Offering a restart the moment a streak breaks converts the pain of lost progress into immediate re‑engagement, preventing the user from drifting away entirely.
Adept
The hidden part#0691
A restart offered at peak regret converts loss aversion into re-engagement fuel. The streak resets; the habit trap does not.
Displaying recommendations on the pause screen converts a break into a browsing moment, ensuring that the user’s attention stays inside the app even when content stops.

The hidden part#0690
A pause screen with suggestions replaces “stop or go?” with “which one next?” The question changes; the answer always stays.
Making the dismissal option smaller and less visually prominent increases the effort required to decline, tilting the default toward the action the interface prefers.

The hidden part#0689
The primary button serves the company. The secondary button serves the user. Making one large and the other small is a choice about whose preference counts.
A profile-view notification exploits curiosity by providing just enough detail to create a question and withholding just enough to make the answer require an app open.
Novice
The hidden part#0688
The notification creates a question it cannot answer. The app open is the only way to stop wondering.
Escalating notification frequency punishes absence by making re-entry more effortful, creating a backlog pressure that is resolved only by opening the app.

The hidden part#0687
Silence is punished with escalation. The longer you stay away, the louder the app calls, and the bigger the backlog you must clear on return.
A screen that announces completion and then immediately offers more content redefines done as a pause rather than an end, preventing the user from experiencing closure.

The hidden part#0685
Caught up is not an ending — it is a checkpoint. The suggestions below redefine done as “done with the mandatory, ready for the optional.”
Ephemeral content creates artificial urgency by attaching a deadline to something that would otherwise wait, converting a browsable archive into a ticking clock.
Adept
The hidden part#0683
A permanent post can wait. An expiring one cannot. The deadline converts indifference into urgency without changing the content.
A suggestion at the moment of exit intercepts the decision to leave by offering a low-cost next action, converting a stopping point into a branching point.
Novice
The hidden part#0682
At the moment of exit, any suggestion is easier to accept than to resist, because the next action is undecided.
Pull-to-refresh gives the user agency over the exact moment new content appears, turning a passive wait into an active ritual that mimics the lever on a slot machine.
Adept
The hidden part#0681
Pull-to-refresh is a lever with variable payout. The gesture gives the illusion of control; the variability keeps the hand coming back.
Asking for notification permission right after a positive experience exploits the halo of that moment, making the request feel like part of the reward.
Master
The hidden part#0680
Ask after a reward and the request inherits the glow. The user says yes to the feeling, not to the alerts.
