The reason a habit breaks during travel
The behaviour ran on a cue that belonged to a place. In the new place the cue is absent, and the habit does not transfer because it was never stored as a decision.

A habit is not stored in the person. It is stored in the loop between the person and a place. Remove the place and the loop opens.
